Isn’t it too cold or hot to work on my door?

We can work on your door at temperatures from 20 to 100 degrees.
 

Is a yearly maintenance coat really necessary?  My door still looks great.

Even if your door looks great it’s important to keep the finish rejuvenated. If you wait too long you will have to completely refinish again. A maintenance coat will save you money in the long run.

 

I got a price from a painter that’s a  less than yours. Why should I use RYD?

Painters are best at painting. 30% of my work is re-doing what painters have done incorrectly.
 

Do you remove the door?

No, the door stays in place the entire time. We re-install the deadbolt at the end of each day so you can keep your home secure.

 

How long does the process take?

The refinishing process usually takes one to three days from start to finish. We install the weatherstrip a week after the final coat.
 

Why can’t you install the weatherstrip right away? 

The finish reaches about 90% of it’s strength in a week. Waiting a week to install the weatherstrip insures that it will not stick to the finish.

 

Why is the builder's original finish failing so quickly?

Most builders rely on their painter to finish the door and most use a stain not designed for exteriors.  

 

What product do you use?

We use environmentally friendly stains and clear coats designed specifically for doors and outdoor furniture. The stains and clear coats have mildew-cide and UV protectants designed to protect against rain, wind, sun and the rigors of exterior exposure.

 

Are there lots of fumes?

No, the water based products we use have very little VOC’s. Most people don’t notice a smell at all.
